Jerry Keene, age 64, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2014 at Mercy Health Partners-Mercy Campus with his family at his side. His last day on Earth was wonderful, spent with his dear friends on the golf course in the sunshine. Jerry was born in Muskegon on February 4, 1950 to James & Joan (Hoerner) Keene and married Vivian Kooi in November of 1978. He was the proud and loving father of James and Emily Keene and the favorite companion of his beloved dogs, Rusty and Ping. Jerry was the President of Keene Lumber Company in Muskegon, where he began working for his father and his grandfather as a young man. He attended Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana and the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University. When not at the lumber company, he enjoyed golfing with his friends and telling stories as only Jerry could. He will be remembered for his wit and his ability to light up a room. Although he will be missed greatly by his family and friends, he will remain forever in their hearts. SURVIVORS Wife Vivian; son, James (Whitney Boger) Keene; daughter, Emily Keene; sisters, Rebecca Keene of CA, Jean Keene of Muskegon, Jody (Randy) Northuis of Holland; Janet Keene of AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
