Jerry "Bob" Benes Jr.

Mr. Jerry "Bob" Benes Jr., age 85, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, July 9, 2013. He was born in Grand Haven, MI on February 16, 1928 to Jerry & Violet (Rezny) Benes Sr. and served his country in the US Army. Jerry married Phyllis Hippler on May 29, 1948 and had been employed as a punch press operator at Sam Garvin & Co. for 38 years until retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Grand Haven Eagles and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and yard work. But foremost was always his family. SURVIVORS Wife of 65 years, Phyllis; son, Bill (Carol) Benes of Grand Haven; daughters, Catherine (Richard) Duarte of Grand Haven, Rose (Mike) Huntoon of Grand Haven, Judy Midkiff of Grand Haven, Cindy Somers of Grand Haven, Becky (Jamey) Dulin of Grand Haven; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother, Charles (Phyllis) Benes of Grand Haven; sister, Rose Henry of Grand Haven; several nieces and nephews. SERVICE Friday, July 12, 2013, 11:00 AM at Clock Chapel-Grand Haven with Pastor Jeff Steele officiating. Interment at Historic Cemetery. VISITATION Thursday, 5-8 PM at Clock Funeral Home - Grand Haven. MEMORIAL: American Diabetes Association.
