Jerome Sanford

Mr. Jerome Sanford, age 81, passed away Sunday November 23, 2008 in Muskegon, MI. He was born April 24, 1927 in Muskegon, MI. to the late Circuit Judge Joseph F. Sanford. He attended Muskegon Public Schools and served in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. Sanford received his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1950. He married the former Jean Glowacki of Detroit, MI., She preceded him in death in 2001. Mr. Sanford practiced law in Muskegon for 37 years. He taught criminal law and procedure in the Criminal Justice Department of Muskegon Community College for 30 years. Mr. Sanford was an instructor in many basic and advanced police training programs over the years. Previously he had taught legal courses for the University of Michigan extension program. Mr. Sanford's life long hobbies were the study of modern history and foreign travel, especially Latin America. He is survived by 5 children, sons, Paul (Michele) Sanford of Oakton, Virginia, Andrew (Lisa) Sanford of Yarmouth, Maine, and Bart Sanford of Everett, WA; 2 daughters, Julie (Jack) Shook of Ann Arbor, MI and Beth Winter of Kansas City, Kansas. 1 sister, Carol (John) Erickson of St. Clair, MI; He was preceded in death by his son, Mark. VISITATION: Wednesday 6 - 8 P.M. at the Young Funeral Home. According to his wishes there will be no services.
