MRS. JENNIFER LYNN Norfolk, VA formerly of Grand Haven U.S. Veteran Petty Officer 3rd Class Jennifer Lynn Anderson, age 29, formerly of Grand Haven, died of accidental injuries on May 17, 2007 in Norfolk, VA, one day before she was to graduate from the U.S. Navy's Little Creek Amphibious Base in Norfolk, VA. Jennifer was born February 7, 1978 in Grand Haven to Robert and Betty Flanders. She married Charles Robert Anderson, February 12, 2000, in Grand Haven. She was a graduate of Grand Valley State University and after her graduation was the band director for the entire Martin School District for three years. She attended First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven and also the West Olive Christian Reformed Church. While in Grand Haven High School, Jen was very involved in track, cross country and the music programs. She also was a former Girl Scout . She attended Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp for 3 years and was the principal chair in the Blue Lake International Band that toured Europe. She and her husband Chuck were co-drum majors of the Grand Valley State University Marching Band in 2001. Jen is survived by her husband, Charles of Wyoming, MI; her parents, Robert and Betty Flanders, and grandparents, Bruno and Irene Maka, all of Robinson Township; her brother, Ben (Edee) Flanders of Wyoming, MI; in-laws, Bruce and Darlene Anderson of Muskegon; and 3 sisters-in-law, Karen (Larry) Poland, Theresa (Jason) Carlson, and Kelly (Jeff) Baker. She was also survived by several aunts and uncles, and was adored and cherished by her 6 nieces and nephews. The Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church, Grand Haven, with Pastor John Brown and Rev. Tom Cook officiating. Full Military Rites by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard will be conducted. Friends may meet the family 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Klaassen Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Jennifer Anderson Endowment Fund, 300 E. Crystal Lake Rd., Twin Lake, MI 49457.
