Jeffrey Thomas "Bubba" Allen, age 67, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024. He was born in Muskegon, MI on March 9, 1956 to Helen (Spain) Allen and graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in 1975. Jeff attended Notre Dame University to study engineering and play hockey. After college he worked as an engineer for a time, then took a position at Great Lakes Marina. He worked as a sailboat broker at Torresen Marine, and later as an independent broker, helping folks buy and sell sailboats all over the country for over 30 years. Bubba married the former Linda Schuett on September 13, 1997.

He was a Life Member of the Muskegon Yacht Club, a member of the Dock and Yard Committee, and shared his love of sailing by serving on the Muskegon Junior Sailing Foundation board. Jeff also served on the committee for the Harbor Hospice Regatta at the Muskegon Yacht Club for many years.

Bubba volunteered with the USHL Muskegon Lumberjacks hockey team as an off-ice official in the penalty box and as a Goal Judge. He loved playing golf and was a member at West Wind Golf Club. When he and Linda retired, they bought a 42 ft. motor coach and drove it south during the winter, stopping at various places along the way, and usually ending up in Biloxi, MS. Jeff loved to travel and there were trips to Alaska, Maine, and many National Parks with Linda; and many trips to the Florida Keys for Key West Race Week with his sailing buddies. Bubba was larger than life, and a marvelous story teller, always making people laugh. He was an aficionado of Beer, Rum and fine Cigars. It can be said that "There were no strangers in Bubba's life, only friends he hadn't met yet". He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

SURVIVORS: Wife Linda Allen; daughter Karen (Steve) Lalonde; mother-in-law, Ramona Schuett; sisters-in-law Lori (Keith) Long, Julie (Gerry) Burdick and their children Cody Burdick, Kyle (Halie) Burdick and son Layton. He was preceded in death by his Sister Anne, Mother Helen, and Father Richard Allen.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE

A celebration of Bubba's life will take place at a later date at the Muskegon Yacht Club. Jeff liked flowers, but he would have been pleased to see the money spent to help other people.
