Devette, Jason Charles Muskegon, Michigan Jason Charles DeVette, age 47, unexpectedly left us on February 2, 2021. Jason was born in Tiffin, Ohio on May 9, 1973 to Charles and Karen (Gomery) DeVette, but was raised in the Muskegon area. Jason graduated from Mona Shores High School, spending one year as an exchange student in South Africa, and attended Grand Valley State University. Jason utilized his love of people in developing his restaurant management expertise. He held management positions at many restaurants throughout his life, including San Chez Bistro in Grand Rapids, the former Holiday Inn restaurant in Muskegon, the Lake House Waterfront Grille, and Buffalo Wild Wings. Jason also often helped out at his favorite Muskegon hangout, the Lakeshore Tavern. He was a member of the Vikings and VFW. Jason was a unique character, always wearing a smile and bringing joy and laughter wherever he roamed. Jason was passionate about his hometown, 'Skeetown'. He maintained a boundless love for his family and will be terribly missed by all of them. Jason spent many a fall night watching Muskegon High football games with his best friend - his 'Pops'. Similarly, Jason had a special place in his heart for his mom, who passed on her billiards skills to him. Jason put family and friends first, never hesitating to reach out to anyone in need. He was close with all his siblings, his big brothers Chris and Joe, and big sisters Vicky, Darcy, and Dawn; all of whom will cherish their memories of Jason's distinctively unique personality. Jason will also be terribly missed by the multitude of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and cousins left behind. Jason deeply admired nature's wonders - spending countless hours at the beach, soaking in the beauty that he felt best represented his beloved hometown. Jason was an avid music lover of all types, attending concerts whenever possible. He loved sailing and for many summers could be found crewing on the Chicken Soup out of the Muskegon Yacht Club. It seemed that everyone around town knew and loved Jason, many by his 'Chili' nickname. He will be missed by them all. Jason also had a fondness for his '61 red Chevy pick-up, a vehicle he bought in his teens and still cared for. While we will all miss him terribly, we are comforted to know that he is with the grandparents he held so close to his heart, Alice and Charles DeVette and Joe and Alice Gomery along with his beloved 'Bear'. SURVIVORS Jason is survived by his 'Pops', Charles (Chuck) DeVette, his stepmom Barbara (Barb) DeVette, his mom Karen (Gomery) DeVette; sisters Vicky (Greg) McNiece, Darcy (John) Hansen, Dawn (Byron) Beluzar; brothers Chris (Karen) DeVette and Joe (Kimberly) Grzybowski; adopted sister Kerry (Christian) Girman; step siblings Jon (Faith) Knight and Stacey (Ed) Idema.
