In loving memory, we gather our hearts to celebrate the life of Janay Licole Phillips, a cherished soul born on March 7, 1988, in Muskegon, Michigan. At the age of 37, Janay entered eternal rest on October 22, 2025, leaving behind a tapestry of love, laughter, and resilience.

Janay, the beloved daughter of Virgil Phillips and Rosetta Hutton, illuminated every room with her kindness and warmth. A spirited athlete in her younger years, she danced on the basketball court, where dreams were made, ever a loyal fan of Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Though her health challenges kept her from steady employment, her spirit remained unyielding, allowing her to thrive as a treasured member of Zion Baptist Church, dedicating her time to teaching Sunday School and nurturing young minds.

Janay's heart beat strongest for her two daughters, Destinee and De'Sire, and her cherished grandson Ny'erie. Family was her anchor, and she held dear her loving parents, step-father William Modisette, and her many siblings-each one a bright star in her life's constellation. Her grandmothers, Valerie Henderson and Hattie Mae Phillips, along with her grandfather, Willie Hutton Sr., gave her roots deep in love, while uncles and a special aunt, Yolanda Selmon, enriched her world with joy and laughter.

As we turn to the future, we invite you to join us in a celebration of Janay's life, a gathering to honor her spirit and the indelible mark she left on our lives. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Connection Hall from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, where we will share stories, memories, and the love that binds us together.
