Mr. James Lane Schottey, age 80, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018. He was born in Muskegon, MI on April 4, 1938 to John & Doris (Stockhill) Schottey and served his country in the US National Guard. He married the former Carroll Berndt on July 5, 1970. Jim had been the owner of Tri City Linen for over twenty years until retiring. He enjoyed music and played the clarinet and sax in the Scottville Clown Band and Holland American Legion Band. Jim also sang in barbershop quartets and church choirs. He loved high school sports and you could always see him at his grandsons events, cheering them on. Jim had a strong faith and enjoyed Hebrew studies. He will be remembered for being a very generous and giving person. SURVIVORS Wife of 48 years, Carroll; son, Tony Schottey of Holland; daughter, Kristen (Greg) Smith of Holland; grandchildren, Ben brothers, John Schottey, Richard (Charlene) Schottey; sister, Carol Burden; he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Schottey and brothers, David & Paul. SERVICE Friday, December 28, 2018, 11:00 AM at the Clock Chapel Grand Haven with Bruce Chapman officiating. Internment in Lakeshore Cemetery.
