James J. Hooper

Mr. James Joseph Hooper, age 91, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019. He was born in Marion, IN on May 11, 1927 to Howard & Mary (Butler) Hooper and served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He married the former Maxine Schuitema on June 30, 1951. Mr. Hooper had been the Part Owner of Hooper Chevrolet and then later owned Hooper Automotive Supply until 1980. James was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where he was very active. Being the chair person on the Prince of Peace Building Committee, as well as, North Muskegon Library and Community Center kept him busy. He still had time to enjoy downhill skiing, cross country skiing,golf, tennis and sailing. SURVIVORS Children, J. Stephen (Leslee) Hooper, Mary (Randy Young) Krueger; Mark (Kari) Hooper, Robert (Ginger) Hooper; 10 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Maxine on July 2, 2018; son-in-law, Robert Krueger; brothers, John Hooper & William Hooper & sister, Macy Mullen. MEMORIAL MASS Friday, April 26, 2019, 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere officiating. MEMORIAL: Hospice of Michigan.
