James Edward Green

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, James Edward Green was called to heaven. He was born on December 29, 1940 to John and Hazel Green in Beeville, Texas. He was one of four boys (Leon, John Allen and David Green) in his family. On April 15, 1960 he married his high school sweetheart and absolute love of his life, Shirley Deveral Green. They had two children, DaRala Kay (Green, Bierman, Heth) and James "Sean" Green. Jim had a colorful and wonderful journey through many states over his life. He shared stories of pulling cotton in the fields of West Texas as a child, to being a country western disc jockey throughout Texas, Colorado, and Indiana where he met Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Buddy Holly, Mac Davis and many more, he would climb the radio towers to fix them, his career changed to Sears & Roebuck in Wisconsin that then led him to manage the retail front in Grand Haven, Michigan starting in 1978. He moved into banking with Peoples Saving & Loans in the early 80's. His life was forever changed in 1984 when he gave his life to Jesus. He remained in Michigan until 1988 when he was led to Pastor a church in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. He returned to Michigan when his grandchildren started to become a more important part of his life. He enjoyed wood working with a great passion and was exceptional at taking an idea to completion. Later in life there was a beautiful talent no one in the family knew. He was an artist and painted various painting from piers to country cities, to farmlands and forests. He was a man who was filled with knowledge of anything you mentioned and could provide wisdom to assist so many people to make the best decisions for their lives. His patience grew over the years, smile always warm, heart to give and laugh that sometimes wouldn't stop.

SURVIVORS

He is survived by his beautiful wife, Shirley and his son, Sean. He was proceeded in death by his father, mother, brother, John Allen and his daughter DaRala. He adored each of his grandchildren; Josh Bierman (Amanda Bierman, including great grandkids, Jodi and Kade); Jacob Bierman (Samantha Bierman including great grandkids, Theo and Benjamin) Brooke Scharphorn (Ronnie Scharphorn, including great grandchild, Russell); Logan Green, Zoe Green, Ethan Green, Ava Green and Drew Green.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Christian Life Center (16765 Hemlock Dr., Spring Lake, MI 49456) on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 11:00AM with Pastor Kevin McCormick officiating.
