James D. Gangwer, age 84, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012. He was born October 20, 1927 in Hesperia, Michigan. He also lived in White Cloud, Benton Harbor and Whitmore Lake as a child. James married Joan Robinson on January 7, 1950 in Muskegon and they lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana, before returning to Muskegon. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Campaign. He studied and was employed as a dental technician before beginning employment at B.C.Cobb plant, from which he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and working in his yard. SURVIVORS James is survived by daughter, Ellen (Richard) Conard; granddaughter, Shannon (Ian) Burt; grandson, Nicholas (Kelley) Conard; great grandchildren, Elijah and Greta Burt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; mother, Lena; infant sister, Yvonne; father Robert; stepmother, Isa Gangwer. SERVICE Saturday, June 16, 2012, 11:00 AM at Samuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Marcy Miller officiating. Interment at Laketon Township Cemetery. VISITATION Friday, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Clock Life Story Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL: Muskegon Rescue Mission or Macular Degeneration Research or Samuel Lutheran Church.
