Mr. James A. Dinger Sr., age 84, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Elberta, Michigan on April 16, 1933 to Herman & Primrose (Gonyon) Dinger and married the former Shirley Lackey on October 12, 1957. Mr. Dinger served his country in the U.S. Air Force, worked at Dupont in Montague followed by Clark Floor Machine and was the former owner of Mikes Bar in downtown Muskegon. James owned Cessna & Piper airplanes at Fremont Airport, enjoyed boating, was a former charter captain and also enjoyed snowmobiling. SURVIVORS Wife, Shirley; sons, James (Jody) Dinger Jr. of Holland, Jeff Dinger of Muskegon, Gregory (Maggie Hawkins) Dinger of Cedar Springs; daughters, Traci (Robert) Taliaferro of VA, Lesa (Chris) Hardy of Muskegon; grandchildren, Aaron, Rick; Heather, Leif, Katelyn, Amy, Alex, Brandon, Lydia, Jacob, Austin, Conner 9 great grandchildren; sister, Linda Mingus of Kalamazoo; several nieces, nephews, special lunch friend, Jack O'Malley, friend & brother-in-law, Bud Lackey. He was preceded in death by sister, June. SERVICE Saturday, January 20, 2018, 1:00 pm with visitation one hour prior at Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Rev. Douglas VanderMolen officiating. MEMORIAL: Harbor Hospice or Johnson Cancer Center.
