Mr. James Alan Custer, age 72, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018. He was born in Washington DC, on October 29, 1945 to Orvin & Nellie (Peters) Wade. Later he was adopted by James Elgan Custer when he & Nell were married in 1955. Mr. Custer had served 20 years in the US Army retiring as a corpsman. Jim went on to work as a paramedic for the Detroit Fire Department. He later purchased a bar in Tarpon Springs, FL and later became a realtor in North Carolina. Jim later moved to Muskegon to be near his children and grandchildren who he loved spending time with. Jim enjoyed fishing and the Gun Lake and Soaring Eagle Casinos. He was a wonderful brother, father and grandfather who will dearly be missed. SURVIVORS Son, Kenneth (Laura) Custer of Muskegon; 3 daughters, Dawn Levernier of Muskegon, Jennifer Custer of FL, Jocelyn Custer of Muskegon; grandchildren, Alicia, Christopher, Emily, Wade, Noah, Brennen, Travis; great granddaughter, Maisie; sisters, Lisa (Andy) Dziobak of Mackinaw Island, Susan (Dwight) Chronister of MO, Debra Custer of MO; brother, Jerry Wade of MD. He was preceded in death by his parents. CELEBRATION OF LIFE Wednesday, July 18, 2018, 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Clock Funeral Home - Muskegon with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm. Interment in Fort Custer National Cemetery. MEMORIAL: Grace Hospice.
