BASSETT, MR. J AMES ALAN ''JOCKO'' Whitehall, MI formerly of Muskegon Mr. James A. Bassett, age 63, died Friday, August 1, 2003 at home. He was born in Muskegon, MI on December 30, 1939 to Harold & Joan Olsen Bassett. Mr. Bassett was a 1958 graduate of Muskegon High School & graduated from Kendall School of Design in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army & was a member of the American Legion Post #69. Having been associated with the family business for over 50 years, Jim was the owner of Bassett Drapery & Awning until retiring in 2000. He attended McGraft Congregational Church, was a lifelong member of the Port City Beagle Club, was a charter member of the Fraternity of Roaches & Sponsors Committee member of Ducks Unlimited. Jim loved the outdoors & was an avid sportsman. SURVIVORS Mother, Joan Bassett of Whitehall, MI; his brother, Robert Bonnie Bassett of Muskegon, MI; 2 nephews, Mike Gina Bassett of OH & Steve Marianne Bassett of Muskegon, MI; a niece, Shelly Bill Groethe of Whitehall, MI; 2 grand-nephews, Jarrett 1 grand-niece, Jessica & many loyal lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold in 2001 & by a brother, David in 1937. SERVICE Tuesday, August 5, 2003, 1:00 PM at the Clock Chapel with Rev. Dr. Gerald Wahr officiating. Interment at Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION Monday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home. MEMORIAL: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Hospice-VNS Clock - Muskegon
