James "Ted" Ankeny

Mr. James Theodore "Ted" Ankeny, age 94, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on June 24, 1921 to George & Virgie (Bateson) Ankeny and served his country in the US Army during World War II. He married the former Alice Cooper on July 14, 1945 and following her passing married Dolores Johnson in 1971. Mr. Ankeny had been a florist and then owner of Cooper Florist for 37 years until retiring in 1983. James was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church and Life Member of the Muskegon Heights Eagles #2106 and Muskegon Elks #274. SURVIVORS Sons, Gary (Lora) Ankeny of Muskegon, Michael (Karen) Ankeny of Muskegon; step children, Cherie (Joe) Wasnalas of CO, Allan (Karla) Johnson of North Muskegon, Lynn (Bill) Boyd of North Muskegon, Terry (Colleen) Johnson of North Muskegon. 11 Grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Alice in 1989 and Dolores in 2015. MEMORIAL SERVICE Thursday, May 19, 2016, 11:30 am and visitation one hour prior to the service at Samuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Marcy Miller officiating.
