The thread interweaves through the fabric, binding it tighter, forming a beautiful, brightly-colored pattern. Jackie Hanson was that way, too. She was the thread that bound us closer together, so beautifully, and so brightly. Jackie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and a woman with a passion for cross-stitching. Today her life lives on in the great beauty she created, never more than in the family she loved most of all. Jackies story began on a cool spring day in 1928, in the shoreline city of Muskegon, Michigan. Those were exciting times in this country, in the twilight of the Roaring 20s, and the calm before the storm of the Great Depression. On March 16, 1928, George and Ruth (Howard) Bisson celebrated the birth of a beautiful baby girl, a daughter they named Jacqueline. Jackie joined her three brothers in the family home, Gerald, Francis and Robert. She attended Muskegon schools, and soon grew into a beautiful young woman. One day she met a handsome young man named Robert Hanson, who was a fellow coworker of hers at Shaw Walker in Muskegon, and the two quickly fell in love. After a brief courtship, they were married, on May 16, 1946, just two months after her 18th birthday. Jackie became a beloved homemaker, and soon enough, a mother, too. The couple was blessed with four wonderful children over the years, daughters Darleen and Pam, and sons Bruce and Craig. Jackie was a terrific mother, very easygoing and supportive, the kind of woman who would always do anything for anyone. Jackie also had many loves besides caring for her family. She was passionate about cross-stitching, and made so many beautiful pieces over the years. She also loved to go bowling or golfing, and amassed a vast collection of Beanie Babies, too. When Robert retired, the couple wintered in the Florida Keys, where Jackie loved to play golf, but they always came back home in the springtime, ready for some quality time with their grandkids. Jackie dedicated her whole life to those kids, who she adored more than anything. Sadly, her beloved Robert died in 1999, yet she persevered, buoyed by her many hobbies and her large and loving family. Jackie joined her husband on August 9, 2007, at her home, at the age of 79. Jackie was a wonderful woman, who lived a wonderful life, a life so full of family and fond memories. She had a passion for cross-stitching, and just as she wove the thread through the cloth, she wove her life into ours, bringing us closer, with her beauty and her love. She will be so greatly missed. Jackie is survived by her 2 daughters, Darleen (Stephen) VanDyke of North Muskegon, Pam (Mike) Baker of NC; 2 sons, Bruce (Vicki) Hanson of Montague, Craig (Amy) Hanson of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, Scott, Todd, Erica, Derek, David, Cheri, Josh; several great granchildren; brother, Gerald (Jean) Bisson of CA; 2 sisters-in-law, Shirleen Bisson of AZ, Ellen Bisson of North Muskegon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1999; 2 brothers, Francis & Robert. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 14, 2007, 11:00 AM at the Clock Chapel with Fr. Norman Droski officiating. Visitation is 1 hour prior to the service at Clock Life Story Funeral Home - Muskegon. Memorials may be made to Hackley VNS Hospice.
