Iva Nell (Williams) Watson was born on May 23, 1927, in Camden, TN, the third of four children born to Noah Cason and Bessie (Holland) Williams. She grew up on a farm near Bruceton, TN. On July 3, 1946, she married James D Watson in Corinth, Mississippi. Jim and Iva were married for 45 years. Two children, Jim and Marcia blessed their marriage. In 1948, they moved north to Michigan where there were more employment opportunities. Iva had completed 8th grade in Tennessee, but later completed her GED and took two years of classes at Muskegon Business College. Iva was employed at Shaw-Walker, Muskegon Piston Ring and Howmet. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Muskegon, taking membership vows in 1955. After Jims death in 1992, Iva volunteered and served on the Board of the Johnson Hall Senior Center where she met Charlie Hutson. They were married for three years until his death in 2002. Iva was a devoted Christian and a person of prayer. Iva loved to sit on her deck and enjoy the flowers. She treasured her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved people, and there is a long line of persons who bear witness of the positive impact she made on their lives. Iva loved to go to church or to listen on radio or watch on television in later years when she was no longer able to attend. Iva loved to travel, and she also enjoyed grape-salad and perch. Iva spent the last three-and-a half-years as a resident of the Sanctuary of the Oaks where she received loving and excellent care. On Easter Sunday, April 16, at the age of 89 years, 10 months, and 24 days, Iva was set free from her suffering and experienced the joy and power of the Resurrection.
