Irma G. Nelson

NELSON, MRS. IRMA G. Muskegon Mrs. Irma G. Nelson, age 94, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2005. She was born in Georgetown, TX on January 30, 1911 to Gust & Hilma Johnson & moved with her family to Fremont, MI in 1922. Irma went to Hill School and graduated from Fremont High in 1930. She attended nurse's training at Mercy Hospital & graduated in 1933 as a Registered Nurse RN & had been employed as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital until retiring. Irma married Ervin Carlson in 1935 & he passed away in 1946. She then married Paul Nelson in 1953 who passed away on April 16, 1995. Irma was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church since 1935 & enjoyed her Pinchtown Girls Club. SURVIVORS 1 son, Richard Merry Carlson of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, Kristine Carlson of NV, Brian Carlson of CA, Scott Sue McAvoy of Norton Shores & Stacy VanTongeren of Norton Shores; 2 great grandchildren, Mallory & Reid McAvoy; 2 sisters-in-law, Lillian Johnson & Dorothy Carlson; lots of nieces, nephews & special friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, a daughter, Kay VanTongeren on May 25, 2000, 2 sisters, Elvira Beals & Hilder Ohman; 3 brothers, Gunnard, Sigurd & Sven Johnson & 2 sisters-in-law, Vivian Johnson & Yvonne Fitzgerald. SERVICE Wednesday, May 25, 2005, 11:00 AM at Samuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Anderson officiating. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home.
