Mrs. Irene Gertrude Fodrocy, age 89, died peacefully Friday, November 23, 2007. She was born on September 29, 1918 in Muskegon to Phillip and Michaeline (Zechlinski) Betjewski. Irene married Bernard Petersen on March 24, 1944, and he died on February 26, 1962. She later married Stephen "Steve" Fodrocy on April 20, 1968, and he died on December 18, 1986. Irene was one of the oldest members of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, working in its Religious Goods and Gift Shop and previously in the Social Guild and on the annual Spaghetti Dinner. She enjoyed playing Bingo and attending the Social Club 70's. Irene had worked at the Nordge Corp., Kieser Industries, and lastly at the Causeway Motel. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who was devoted to her family and was a very positive role model; Irene lived her faith. Survivors include her children, Arlene (Roger) Rolph of Montague and Bernie (Beth) Petersen of Marne, MI; grandchildren, Lori Rolph Schultz, Sonja Rolph Denning, Michelyn (Lynn) Petersen, and Joshua Petersen; great-grandchildren, Carly and Nicholas Schultz and Connor Denning; 9 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, and a step-son, Ronald Fodrocy. The funeral liturgy will begin at 11am, Monday, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Burial will be made in Fruitland Township Cemetery. Visitation is on Sunday (today), 6-8pm, at the Pachesny-Jend Funeral Home, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30pm. Visitation is also at the church one hour prior to service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Endowment Fund.
