THORNTON, MR. IRA Muskegon, MI Mr. Ira Thornton, age 86, died Thursday, July 10, 2003. He was born in Ashtown, AR on June 21, 1917 to James Clark & Alcar Lula Odom Thornton & married the former Gertrude Kowalske on November 2, 1942. Mr. Thornton served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII & had been employed as a Machinist at Sealed Power Hy-Lift until retiring. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church & V.F.W. Post 8846. SURVIVORS 2 sons, James C. Patricia Thornton of Muskegon, MI & Robert D. Maryann Thornton of Twin Lake, MI; 1 daughter, Carole L. John Beerman of Muskegon, MI; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grand- children; 1 daughter-in-law, Susan Thornton of Hesperia, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gertrude; son, Michael I. Thornton; grandson, Daniel Robert Thornton & by a great grandson, Eric Rederstorf. SERVICE Saturday, July 12, 2003, 11:00 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis Lassanske officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION Friday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home & Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
