Ingrid G Flentje

Our beloved Ingrid G. Flentje passed away at 79 years of age, on September 7, 2020 after a 5 year battle with cancer. She was born July 10, 1941 in Beuthen Oberschlesien, Germany to Johann and Charlotte Wicher. She graduated in 1958 and obtained her barber's license from a trade school in Germany, which became her longtime profession and passion. After moving to the United States in 1960, she spent 30 years as a highly respected and incredibly skillful barber. After marrying Frank Flentje of Huntington Indiana, who predeceased her on April 7, 2016, she became a school bus driver for Michigan City Public Schools. Ingrid made countless lifelong friends along the way, with her heavy German accent, occasional mispronunciation of words, witty and fun sense of humor, made her truly unforgettable. She had a remarkable way of making any situation into a lively one and she thrived on making people feel special. Ingrid was an outstanding cook, gardener, impeccable housekeeper and loved spending time with friends and family. She spent every waking hour indulging in life to the fullest. Ingrid is survived by her brothers, Horst Wicher of Temperance, Michigan and Hans Wicher of Beulah, Michigan; her sisters, Jutta Hafner and Monika (Horst) Mallek, currently residing in Germany; her three children; son Chris (Melody) Brunnmeier of Leslie, Michigan, daughter Sandy Watson of Nunica Michigan, and son Michael Brunnmeier of Grand Haven, Michigan. As well as many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and all whose lives she touched deeply. It was at Ingrid's request to hold a private celebration of life gathering after her passing. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on the weekend of Saturday July 10, 2021 (Ingrid's 80th birthday) at 3:00 p.m. at 17289 120th Ave, Nunica, MI, 49448.
