PAPPIN, MRS. ILAH BLANCHE Spring Lake, MI Ilah Blanche Pappin, age 95, of Spring Lake, Michigan, passed away after a short illness on May 4, 2002 at the North Ottawa Care Center in Grand Haven, Michigan. Born Ilah Blanche Roberts to Amos Arthur Roberts and Caroline Butler Roberts on July 12, 1906 at Mesick, Michigan, she was the fourth of nine children. Her family moved temporarily to Alma, Michigan during World War I where she attended Alma High School. She returned to the Cadillac, Michigan area where she found employment at the St. John's Table Company as a commercial artist. She married James F. Pappin in Cadillac February 9, 1927. The family moved to Greenville, Michigan in 1949 then to Spring Lake in 1973. Mrs. Pappin enjoyed a full, active and useful life. In addition to her interest in art, she enjoyed sports, becoming an avid golfer winning many prizes in Michigan and Arizona. She remained a true Detroit Tigers fan and University of Michigan Wolverines fan and was knowledgeable in all aspects of baseball, football, and tennis. She was involved in many civic and service organizations giving time and money to many unfortunate persons, especially children. She was active in the Parents and Teachers Associations where she lived, taught Sunday School, and became a Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was regarded by her family as a Master Homemaker. Mrs. Pappin was a member of the Fruitport Congregational United Church of Christ for many years. Mrs. Pappin is survived by two sisters: Durah Treasure Brower of Cadillac, Michigan and Dorothy Wilson of Ellenton, Florida. She is also survived by her four children; James D. Pappin Jeannine of Burton, Washington, Janice M. Williams Richard of Spring Lake, Michigan, R. Dean Pappin Linda of Clio, Michigan and Carolyn M. Johnson Michael of Southbury, Connecticut. She leaves twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 1990. A visitation will be held at the Clock Funeral Home on Pontaluna Road in Fruitport at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 8, 2002. Services will take place at 1:00 PM with Pastor Don Wood officiating.
