Mr. Howard J. Veeneman, age 76, went to be with his Lord, Saturday morning, August 4, 2007. He was born June 7, 1931 in Cooperville, MI to John and Hattie (Postema) Veeneman. He lived on a farm with his parents for 19 years, after which he took an apprenticeship in Patternmaking, which became his vocation for 41 years. Howard married the former Donna Weesies from Montague, MI on November 6, 1953. He retired in 1993 from Seaway Pattern. He then volunteered his time with Forgotten Man Ministry as an Associate Chaplain at the Muskegon County Jail. He and his wife, Donna, spent their winters in Homested, Florida. Over the years Howard served as both deacon and elder at Unity Reformed Church, of which he was a member. He is survived by his wife, Donna; 4 children, Gordon (Barbara) of Grand Rapids, Calvin (Sharon) of Norton Shores, Rudy (Joni) of Muskegon, Doriann (Gary) Oxendale of Whitehall; 9 grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Gertrude Veeneman of Coopersville. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jay in 1981; 3 brothers, Herbert, Bernard, and Melvin; and 2 sisters, Edna Mae and Mina (Yonkman) Hollar. Services will be 3:00 PM Monday at Unity Reformed Church with Pastor Kyle DeYoung officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 and one hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIALS to the Unity Reformed Church Memorial Fund or the Western Michigan Christian High School New Gymnasium Fund will be appreciated.
