Howard C. Stevens, Jr.

Mr. Howard C. Stevens Jr., age 84, passed away surrounded by family Sunday evening, February 3, 2008. He was born June 3, 1923 to Howard and Olive (Chambers) Stevens in Owatonna, Minnesota. He was a graduate of Iowa State University. He retired from Lift Tech International, formerly Dresser Industries, as chief engineer. He was an avid fisherman and an active member of Michigan Steelheaders. He is survived by his wife, Ruth C. (Martin) Stevens, and 9 children: Molly (Tom) Wahr of Muskegon, Debora (Wayne) Bergstrom of Frederick, MD, Denise (Gary) Dunn of Lake Alfred, FL, Anne (Louis) Langlois of Paw Paw, Margaret (Scott) Nestell of Ravenna, Jeanne (Tom Rubinger) Stevens of Carmel, CA, Martin (Monica) Stevens, Jill (Chris) Lamrock, and Rita (Brian) Olejarczyk all of Muskegon; 26 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Stevens, in 1980, and a son, John Stevens, in 2006. He was also predeceased by his parents, brother, Wilbur, and sister, Margaret. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Page officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with the Rosary at 3:30 PM. Memorial Contributions can be made in honor of Howard to St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church or Harbor Hospice. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery.
