MORRIS, MR. HOWARD BALCOM Norton Shores, MI Mr. Howard Balcom Morris, age 87, died Friday, February 15, 2002. He was born in Irvington, NY on March 8, 1914 to Howard & Florence Reid Morris & married the former Dorothy Hardinge in Baltimore, MD on October 4, 1939. Having attained the rank of Major, Mr. Morris was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during WWII. He was a graduate of Hobart College, coming to Muskegon from Baltimore, MD in 1954 to work at Liberty, Life & Accident Insurance Co. as an Insurance Executive. He had also worked as an Executive Recruiter for the Fredrick Chusid Co. for 10 years. Mr. Morris was a member of Friendship Wesleyan Church & was a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry. Among other service to the community, he was involved as Director of the Leadership Academy, Senior Services, the Muskegon Rescue Mission, Concerts of Prayer & Businessmen for Christ. He was a North Muskegon Alderman & also served as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital. SURVIVORS: Daughter, Wendy M. Robert ''Buss'' L. Kersman of N. Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, James M. Jeana Kersman of N. Muskegon, Loren E. Michael Gordon & Dorothy H. Kersman, both of CA & Park H. Kacey Kersman of N. Muskegon; 3 great grand-children, Nicholas Gordon, Samantha Kersman & Parker Kersman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy on December 23, 1995 & by a sister, Adele Warnock in 1998. SERVICE: Wednesday, February 20, 2002, 2:00 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Dr. Glenn Wagner & Fr. Joe Ashby officiating. Interment at Laketon Township Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
