Hilda Stapleton

Mrs. Hilda K. Stapleton, age 87, passed away April 13, 2007. She was born August 12, 1919 in Picayune, Mississippi to the late Zeno and Eleanor (Lyles) Stewart. Hilda married Alex Stapleton on November 20, 1937. She was a Nintendo playing Grandma, and avid bowler, loved all crafts, and enjoyed going to the Senior Center and Red Hat Club. She was a member of Norton Shores Gospel Tabernacle. Most of all, Hilda loved her family. She was prededed in death by her husband, Alex; daughters, Marie, Mary Ann, and Lula; and 7 brothers and sisters. Surviving are her children: Lexie (Mary) Stapleton of Weston, WV, Henry (Alline) Stapleton of Muskegon, Marvin Stapleton of Grand Rapids, Annie (Frank) Phelps of Weeki Wachee, FL, Brenda (Bob) Mergener of Grand Haven, Barbara (Dennis) Johnson of Muskegon, and Linda (Tim) Thomas of Muskegon; 68 grandchildren; 41 great-grand-children; 12 great-great-grand- children; brother, Zeno (Kay) Stewart of MS; and sister, Bernadine Butler of MS. VISITATION will be Monday evening, April 16th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon, MI. FUNERAL SERVICES will be Tuesday, April 17th at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour before the service (from noon to 1:00 p.m.) at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel with Pastor Kevin McCormick officiating. Interment is in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of North Ottawa.
