Herbert Allen Tomkins

Herbert "Herb" Allen Tomkins, age 78, of Muskegon, passed away on Friday,
May 22, 2026.

He was born on March 30, 1948, in Charlevoix, Michigan, to Glenn and Jennie
(Brooks) Tomkins. Herb was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving
aboard a submarine from 1967 to 1971. After his military service, he
dedicated his life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse. He earned his Associate's Degree in Nursing from North Central Michigan College and a Bachelor's in Business Leadership from Baker College. Herb worked in home health care for many years before his retirement.

On January 1, 1982, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Kupel, whowas also a nurse. together, they shared a passion for creativity andtravel. Herb was a talented and handy man who held a builder's license. Heenjoyed crafting unique items from wood building creative structures, and tackling any do-it-yourself project. He and Kathy enjoyed traveling together, especially their trips to Florida.

Herb was a kind man who will be deeply missed. He is survived by his siblings, Dennis Tomkins, Maurice (Patty) Tomkins, and Diane (John) Hale; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen, in 2026; his parents; and his brothers, Don Tomkins and Gary Tomkins.

In accordance with Herb's wishes, direct cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
