Mr. Herbert E. Jarka, age 78, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010. He was born in Muskegon, MI on February 25, 1932 to Francis & Lillian (Beckman) Jarka and served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married the former Ferne Hornauer on January 27, 1952. Mr. Jarka had been employed as an Electrical Engineer at Dresser Industries for 11 years until retiring. He later volunteered at Koinonia Medical Center for 15 years. He was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church and Holton American Legion Post #397. Herb enjoyed boating, fishing, woodworking and golf. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved his family very much. He will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS Wife, Ferne; son, David (Sherry) Jarka of Muskegon; daughters, Cindy (Richard) Zavitz of Jenison, Amy (Robert) Huch of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Phillip (Connie) Jarka, Terance (Eloise) Jarka. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Frances Smith. SERVICE Monday, July 5, 2010, 11:00 AM at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church with Jan Reahm officiating, with luncheon to follow. VISITATION Monday, 1 hour prior to the service at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. MEMORIAL: Harbor Hospice.
