HIERHOLZER, MR. HERBERT To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV. Herb Hierholzer was called to his heavenly home at 11:56 PM on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004. He was 90 years old. He grew up in Peach Plains and in the City of Grand Haven, attending Peach Plains Elementary School, St. Patricks Catholic School and Grand Haven High School. Forty-two years of Herbs work life were spent at the Story Clark Piano Co. where he was employed for most of that time as the mill room foreman. During WWII he was appointed by the government to dry the lumber which was used to make gliders for the war effort. Herb retired in 1978. He loved woodworking and home repairs and improvement. Herb also loved to read and memorize poetry. He was active at St. Johns Lutheran Church, serving as trustee and elder. Mr. Hierholzer also served on Grand Havens Board of Parks and Recreation for many years and he and his wife, Frances, were instrumental in helping to preserve Hatton Park and in helping to begin the Olde Town Neighborhood Assoc. Herb and Fran loved to travel; They traveled around the United States and to 27 foreign countries. Most of all, Herb loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Susannah and Joseph Hierholzer and his brothers, William and Roy. SURVIVORS Wife of 68 years, Frances Boomgaard, his daughter, Patsy Fojtik, his son, John Linda Hierholzer, his granddaughters, Debbie fojtik, Rosemany Donald Gardner, Julie Mark Gronevelt and his grandsons, Daniel Chris Fojtik, Andrew Fojtik, Matthew Hierholzer and Chandler Maria Woodruff. Mr. Hierholzer leaves three great grandsons, seven great granddaughter, three great great grandsons and a great great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews. SERVICE 11AM on Wed. Feb. 18th, 2004 at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Grand Haven. VIVITATION 7-9PM on Tues. Feb. 17th, 2004 at Clock Grand Haven and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIALS:St. Johns Lutheran Church or the North Ottawa Council on Aging.
