Herbert J. Callis

Mr. Callis, age 85, died Saturday, October 20, 2007. He was born February 22, 1922, in Manton, to Morris and Evelyn (Rollins) Callis, he had lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. On August 23, 1947, in Angola, Indiana, he married the former Marilyn D. Johr. He had worked as a self-employed tree trimmer. Mr. Callis served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. FAMILY: His wife, Marilyn Callis; 2 daughters, Loni Callis of Muskegon and Kathie (Darrell) Sturgis of Montague; a grandson, Adam (Jennifer) Callis of Nokesville, VA; a granddaughter, Melissa (Lance) Quinlan of Grant; great-grandchildren, Alexander Callis and Morgan Callis, both of VA; a sister, Arlyn Mrozik of Ludington; nieces & nephews. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at 1:00 PM, from Clock Chapel-Whitehall with the Rev. Roger Coalter officiating. A Military Salute will be conducted at the funeral home by Muskegon County Veteran Council.
