Mr. Henwood "Jim" J. G. Bennetts, age 89, of Norton Shores, passed away Thursday, December 06, 2007 at Poppen Hospice Residence. He was born December 15, 1917 in Tri Mountain, MI to the late Henry and Elizabeth (James) Bennetts. Jim was a life-long member of Church of God United where he gave of his time and talents to many aspects, serving as Head Usher for many years. He had owned the Shell Station in Muskegon Heights for seven years before going to work in Grand Haven at Sharpe Shell. Jim and Ruth enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. Among his hobbies were hunting and woodworking. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Preceding him in death were a son, Robert, in 1971; daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Plank) Bennetts, in 2003; one brother, Reverend William Bennetts; and one sister, Mae Hussey. Surviving are his wife of 66 years of marriage, Ruth (Peterson) Bennetts; children: Norbert Bennetts of Midland, MI, Thomas (Jeanonne) Bennetts of North Muskegon, Garlinda (John) Traxler of Copemish, MI, and Randy (Pam) Bennetts of Wellston, MI; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Henry Bennetts of Florida; and one sister, Mildred Rupright of Muskegon, MI. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Church of God United, 1630 Harvey St., Muskegon, with the Reverend Lynnette Gillett officiating, with visitation one hour prior to his service (noon to 1:00 p.m.). Interment in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please remember Harbor Hospice or Church of God United.
