Helen M. Wilkie

Mrs. Helen M. Wilkie, age 88, passed away, Sunday, August 24, 2008 at home. She was born April 14, 1920 in East Chicago, IN to Robert and Anna (Peterson) Nelson. She worked for Muskegon Piston Ring as a machinist for many years. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was a leader for the Boy Scouts. On November 7, 1959 she married Richard Wilkie in Muskegon and he preceded her in death October 27, 2001. She is survived by 2 daughters, Judith Griffes and Jacklyn (Earl) Harley; 2 sons, Robert (Carolyn) Wilkie, Richard (Kathy) Wilkie all of Muskegon; 8 grandchildren, Earl Harley, Kim Golden, Jason, Jeffrey, and Justin Wilkie, Dean Griffes, Kaitlin and Kelsey Wilkie; 4 great grandchildren, Leigha and Nichole Golden, Casey and Brian Griffes. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Floyd Gornes and 1 sister. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held 1:00 PM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with Rev. Fr. Thomas Brown presiding. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday from 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be given to Muskegon Christian Schools or Western Michigan Christian High School. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery.
