Helen Sophie Vanderlaan

Mrs. Helen Sophie Vanderlaan, age 74, died peacefully Tuesday, January 1, 2008. She was born on April 25, 1933 in Muskegon, MI to Chester and Catherine (Halek) Jazdzyk and married Forrest Vanderlaan on September 12, 1953. Helen was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, who loved and cared for her family. Survivors are her husband, Forrest; her children, James (Terri) Vanderlaan of Linden, MI, Joseph (Vickie) Vanderlaan of Fremont, MI, John (Karyn) Vanderlaan of Muskegon, MI and Debbie (fiance' Bill Terpstra) Schucker of North Muskegon, MI; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter (Sally) Jazdzyk and Chester Jazdzyk. The Funeral Liturgy will begin at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Entombment will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation hours will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Pachesny-Jend Funeral Home, where a Scripture service will begin at 7:30 pm. Visitation on Friday at the church one hour prior to service. Memorial Contributions to St. Thomas Church Fund.
