Helen M. O'Connell

Mrs. Helen M. O'Connell, age 70, passed away Saturday morning, March 1, 2008 at her home in Muskegon. She was born on December 21, 1937 to Otto and Dorothy (Huffman) VanderLey in Muskegon and was a life resident. Helen had worked in the office at Fisherman's Landing and as a Para-professional at Steele School for 8 years before retiring in 1979 to become a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. On March 16, 1957 she married Richard L. "Rich" O'Connell, Jr. and he survives her along with 3 daughters, Jenny DeLong, Julle (Douglas) Daul and Kay (Jim) Schropp; 1 son, James O'Connell; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Kenneth (Joyce) VanderLey. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 daughters, Chrissi O'Connell and Marie O'Connell; and 1 son-in-law, Bill DeLong, Sr. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 1PM Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Julie Winklepleck and Pastor Russell Damm officiating.
