LARSEN, MRS. HELEN P. Muskegon Mrs. Helen P. Larsen, age 99, died at her home on Wednesday, December 14, 2005. She was born on September 25, 1906 in Illinois and had been a resident of the Muskegon area most of her life. She married Erwin A Larsen, Sr., on March 23, 1944. Helen is survived by her daughters Jeanne L. Bartlett George of North Muskegon, Michigan, and Mary Lou Mobley of Thomasville, Georgia and her daughter-in-law, Carol M. Larsen Donald of Whitehall, Michigan. She was predeceased by her husband, Erwin A. Larsen, Sr., her sister, Irma Sikkenga, her brother Louis L. Pratt, and her children Virginia L. Ocker, Erwin A. Larsen, Jr., and Donald E. Larsen. Also among Helen's survivors are her fourteen grandchildren: Bruce L. Bartlett, Laura B. Johnson, Sara B. Fink, John W. Mobley, IV, Scott L. Mobley, Ned H. Mobley, Margaret M. Thompson, Edward H. Ocker, Jr., Donald J. Ocker, Joseph E. Ocker, Steven Ocker, Jean L. Smith, Erwin A. Larsen, III, and Donald E. Larsen, Jr. and her twenty great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her devoted caregivers Kathy Wilks, Betty Ruth Krause, Majel Holdren and Tiffiny Green. Early in her varied careers, she was the manager of food service at the Muskegon YMCA and later she became a realtor. Her civic and community activities included being an active member of the First Congregational Church, a member and past-President of Zonta Club, a member of Muskegon Country Club, Greater Muskegon Service League Foundation, Red Hat Club, YMCA Waterworks and a member and past-President of the Muskegon Century Club. Among her many accomplishments, she was instrumental in the Seaway Drive beautification program and was actively involved in Muskegon's Heritage Village, where she resided. As a woman whose positive attitude brightened every day and whose hats added colorful style to every venue she graced, she will be remembered as an avid horse-back rider, an excellent hostess who thoroughly enjoyed entertaining, and a committed and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to so many. Services will be announced at a later date.
