Helen L. Hyma, age 84, went to be with her Lord early Wednesday morning, September 19, 2007 in Muskegon. She was born November 19, 1922 to John and Minnie (Lulofs) Hyma, Sr. in Muskegon and moved to Grand Rapids in 1955 where she lived for many years before returning to Muskegon. Helen worked for Clark American Check Printers for 25 years before retiring in 1992, and had also done missionary work for the Christian Reformed Church and the Gospel Chapel from 1958 - 1965. She enjoyed photography, gardening, hiking, the outdoors, sewing, and reading. Helen was a member of the Harvest Orthodox Presbyterian Church of Wyoming, MI, and for many years was active on the Mission Board of the church. SURVIVORS include 2 sisters, Dorothy Snow of N. Muskegon, Mildred (John) Baker of Norton Shores; 1 sister-in-law, Norma Hyma of CA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends, all of whom were very special to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, John Hyma, Jr., and 2 sisters, Ruth Dunbar and Minerva Iloniemi. SERVICES will be 2 PM Saturday at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue (231) 726-5210 with Pastor Dale VanDyke officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service. For a more lasting memorial, please consider the Building Fund of Harvest OPC, Harbor Hospice or the Christian Care Nursing Center.
