Helen Viola Anderson, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on September 1, 2023, in Muskegon, MI, at the age of 85. Born on May 1, 1938, in Muskegon, to Joseph & Florence (Buchwald) Gerhardstein. She married Richard Anderson on January 10, 1976, and excelled as a daycare provider, waitress, and housekeeper for hotels and bowling alleys over the years. Throughout her life, Helen had a deep appreciation for nature and traveling, she enjoyed spending time outdoors. She embraced the beauty of camping and fishing alongside her husband Dick, and would often venture out in her trailer during weekends. Helen recently traveled to Branson, MO in May, and just went to a family reunion in August. An avid fan of Old Country Western movies and music, Helen found comfort and entertainment in this genre. She would immerse herself in these classic films, effortlessly singing along to her favorite tunes. Helen took great pride in maintaining her home, she just finished painting her home herself. She loved being with her kids, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Son, DeVere (Janice) Cunningham Jr., of Portage, MI; daughter, Cynthia Palmer; grandchildren, Frances Young, Robert Cunningham, Alyssa LaFree; great-grandchildren, Caleb Cunningham, Miles Cunningham, Will Cunningham, Violet LaFree; brother, John Gerhardstein; many nieces and nephews; close friend, Richard Morton. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eugene Cunningham; brother, Joe Gerhardstein; sister, Mary Baird.
