Heather Lee Skiles

Heather Lee Skiles, age 45, passed away on March 13, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on October 23, 1980, Heather grew up in Muskegon, Michigan, where she spent her childhood with her family and many early memories along the Lakeshore. She graduated from Muskegon High School in 1998 and attended Muskegon Community College for a time. Heather worked as a health care worker at various assisted living facilities in Florida and she was a well liked server at Muskegon area restaurants including Buffalo Wild Wings, Brann's, and the Harbortown Yacht Club.

Heather is survived by her children, Sydney Skiles and Travis Skiles; her parents, Leonard and Laurie (McKeown) Skiles; her siblings, Jeffrey Skiles, Aaron Skiles (Casey Ballinger), and Joshua Skiles (Amber Skiles). She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Elizabeth (Libby) Skiles, and John and Shirley McKeown.

Heather faced many personal struggles throughout her life, including challenges with mental health. Her family hopes that transparency about this part of her story will encourage compassion, understanding, and open conversations. Too often these battles are fought quietly and alone, and it is important that those who may be struggling know that help and support is available.

Heather will be remembered by those who loved her and by the memories shared with her throughout her life.

A Celebration of Life for Heather will take place later in the summer.
