Hazel B. Demarr Profile Photo

DeMarr, Mrs. Hazel Beatrice Spring Lake On January 9, 2018 Hazel transitioned peacefully from the loving care of her daughter on earth to the waiting arms of her husband, Arthur, in heaven. Hazel was born in Muskegon on April 13, 1921 to Henry and Leta (York) DeWitt. Hazel graduated from the Howell School of Business and studied piano at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. She was the office manager at Michigan Bakeries until she and Art were married on September 20, 1945, when her priority became being the best wife and mother possible. She was a quiet, gentle soul with a bright mind and an unwavering commitment to God and her family. She stood by and cared for her mother, husband, and sister in their last years. She and Art were always there for their daughter and helped care for their grandchildren when they were young creating an eternal bond between the generations. Hazel loved music and was an excellent and adventurous cook. Much gratitude to the staff at Heartwood Lodge for the care they provided to both Hazel and Bev over the last year and a half. They made life at a facility as positive an experience as possible. A special thanks to Susan Elliott who was at the right place at the right time in Hazels last days. SURVIVORS She is survived by her daughter Beverly J. DeMarr, Ph.D. of Norton Shores; granddaughter Melita (Josh) Ewbank and great-grandson Fisher of Grand Haven; and grandson Eric (Rachel) Cioe and great-grandson Russell of Missoula, Montana. She is also survived by her brother John (Mary) DeWitt of Muskegon, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 2002, parents, and sisters; Margaret Boogaard, Eileen Horvath, Genevieve Greinke, and Ruth Wormuth. SERVICE Interment has taken place at Norton Cemetery. A celebration of Hazel and Arthurs lives will take place in the summer.
