Hazel Davis

Mrs. Hazel F. Davis, age 93, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007. She was born on August 31, 1913 to Elmer and Hazel (Drake) Allison in Honor, MI, and has resided in the Muskegon area since 1936. She was a cook for the Hot Lunch Program for Oakridge Public Schools for 10 years, prior to her retirement in 1968. She was a member of Wolf Lake Baptist Church and took part in the Ladies Mission Group, and was the Friendship Card sending Coordinator. Mrs. Davis was also involved in the Wolf Lake Bunco Club and loved gardening. On February 3, 1933 she married Harold Sherriff in Mancelona, MI and he preceded her in death on November 9, 1966. Mrs. Davis then married Harrison Davis on January 20, 1968 in Muskegon and he also preceded her in death on December 30, 1985. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Boyd (Linda) Sherriff and Dolores (Jerome) Novotny both of Muskegon; 2 step-children, Yvonne (Vern) Austin and Henrietta "Etta" Stephens both of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren; 1 sister, Mary Lee Allison of Honor, MI; special friends, Kate Corning and Jan VanHassel both of Muskegon. Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 step-children, Harrison "Bud" Davis, Jr. and Van Davis; and 1 sister, Vira Sherriff. SERVICES will be 2 PM Friday, March 30, 2007 at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 with Rev. Burt Wachter officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM Thursday. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to Wolf Lake Baptist Church or Harbor Hospice would be appreciated. BURIAL will take place at Platte Cemetery in Honor, MI.
