NEDEAU, MR. HARVEY I., JR. North Muskegon Harvey I. Nedeau Jr., a loving steward to friends and family, who intimidated even the fiercest game of solitaire and laughed at just the smell of a salty joke, died of congestive heart failure and complications thereafter, on March 2 at the Brookhaven Nursing Home. He was 81. Nedeau, a lifelong Muskegon resident, attended St. Jean's Parish School and graduated from Muskegon Heights in 1942. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the European Theater as a medical corpsman. After his discharge, he enrolled at the University of Notre Dame where he received a degree in Finance. He graduated in 1950, upon which he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara K. Strand, who preceded him in death in 1970. He became a realtor and property manager for the family real estate agency, Harvey I. Nedeau Inc., where he specialized in commercial and industrial properties. In addition, he taught real estate courses as a visiting professor at the University of Michigan. In the mid-eighties, he began consulting for the Greater Muskegon Broadcasters Inc. and then became the Chairman of the Board of Directors in 1993. He was an avid yachtsman and raced competitively for 30 years as helmsman of Romahajo II and III, and Scarmouche. He sailed and won the Chicago and Port Huron Mackinac races, the Queen's Cup and competed in ocean racing off the coast of Florida. He was a member of the Muskegon Yacht Club and a director at the White Lake Yacht Club. In 1973, he re-married to schoolteacher, Clara E. Fenwick, who also preceded him in death in 2000. SURVIVORS He is survived by his brother John Nedeau (Joan) and sister, Rosemary Baty (Ray) of North Muskegon; his six children, Christopher Nedeau (Janet) of San Francisco, CA, Polly Nedeau Hess (Jim) of Sumter, S.C., Jack Fenwick (Rick) of North Muskegon, Charles Fenwick (Shelley) of Council Bluff, IA, David Fenwick (Julie) of Brighton, MI, and Leah Fenwick (Cassie) of Ravenna; his 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Paul, and Peter Nedeau, J.W. Hess, Corey, Jillian, Lauren, Joshua, and Nathaniel Fenwick, Tyler and Trevor Baushke. SERVICE Tuesday, March 6, 2007, 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery.
