Lorraine M. Grillo, age 76, of Grand Haven passed away Friday November 3, 2006 at the Poppen Hospice Residence after a 14 month battle with breast cancer. She was the 12th of 14 children, born November 18, 1929 to Sam and Ethel (Smith) Packingham in Muskegon, Michigan; and she married Richard Grillo on November 22, 1947 in Muskegon. Lorraine loved to cook, spend time with her family, and enjoyed knitting afghans for fund raisers for various community service organizations. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Women's Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council # 2975, the American Legion Auxiliary Merritt Lamb Post # 9, and founding member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Muskegon. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Richard; four daughters: Joan Grillo of Grand Haven, Kathy (Ralph) Baker of AZ, Mary Grillo of Grand Haven, Theresa (Kurt) Carlson of FL; son: Mike (Patti) Grillo of Grand Haven; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Ann Marko and (Ted Hackenberg) of Michigan, brother, Russ (Barb) Packingham of Indiana, sister-in-law, Sybil Packingham, and many nieces, nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and eleven siblings. The funeral mass for Lorraine will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday November 7, 2006, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. William Langlois officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, November 6, at the Klaassen Family Funeral Home, 1500 Robbins Road, with a Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Muskegon. Memorial contributions may be made to The Poppen Hospice Residence of Muskegon.
