Grace E. Mcdermott-Powers

Mrs. Grace E. McDermott-Powers, age 90, passed away Thursday evening, January 17, 2008. Born March 8, 1917 in Cicero, IL to William and Fredly (Harbitz) Miskelly, she moved to Muskegon at the age of 3. On June 1, 1936, she married Harvey McDermott. He preceded her in death in 1967. In January of 1983, she married William Powers, who died in 1995. Grace was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was the owner and operator of Muskegon Glass Company in Muskegon for 50 years prior to retiring in 1983. Grace was a long time member of the Viking Lodge, a life member of the Muskegon Elks, and a member of Zonta. Grace is survived by 4 children, Thomas (Camille) McDermott, Jane (Stanley) Mills, Lynda (Michael) Fitzpatrick, and William (Denise) McDermott; 2 step-children, William Powers and Mary Pat Aker; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 19 step-grand-children; and 30 step great-grandchildren. Grace was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Irene Damm. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 21, 2008, at St. Mary Catholic Church, (239 W. Clay) with Priest Celebrant Rev. Father Julian Reginato. VISITATION will be Sunday, 2-4 and 6-8PM, with the Rosary being prayed at 7:00PM at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W.
