Mr. Gorden Clell Barrett, age 93, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016. He was born in Winfield, Kansas on July 9, 1922 to John & Pearl (McClung) Barrett and served his country in the US Army Airborne during World War II. He married the former Marion Peterson. Mr. Barrett had been employed as an iron worker for Friend Re-Steel Construction, working on the Mighty Mac. Gorden was a life time member of the V.F.W. Lt Clement F Derezinski Post #7729. He enjoyed working with his hands, building his own home and always fixing his own cars. SURVIVORS Sons, Larry (Patricia) Barrett of West Olive, Gorden (Barbara) Barrett Jr. of Twin Lake; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; half sister, Linda (Frank) Shneiderman; step sister, Sonya Calveret; half brother, David Barrett; brother-in-law, Victor Peterson; many nieces, nephews & cousins; loving caregiver and special friend, Bonnie Barrett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion in 1996; 1 grandson; parents; sister, Leslie Jean; half sister, Cynthia Allard; half brother, John Barrett; SERVICE Saturday, January 23, 2016, 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Rev. Curtis Freed officiating and Military Honors under the Auspices of the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers, please consider Mercy Health VNS & Hospice.
