Mr. Victor Joseph Goodman, age 81, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2006. Mr. Goodman was born May 10, 1925 in Muskegon Hts., the youngest of Paul and Francis (Wopple) Goodman's five children. He was a US Army veteran, serving his country during WWII and receiving a Purple Heart for his duty in the European Theater. On October 20, 1951, he married the former Shirley D. Rewalt in Muskegon. Mr. Goodman was employed as maintenance director in the Orchard View School district at Jolman School before retiring in 1990. He was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of the first Catholic Slovak Union "Tatra Hall" and was an avid Tigers fan. A devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is SURVIVED by his wife, Shirley; 2 daughters, Pamela K. (Michael) Sohasky of Antigo, WI and Cynthia S. (Timothy) Buday of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Bartletti, Sara (Tom) Gregorich, Amy (Tom) Lopez, Michael Sohasky, Crystal (David) Patricio, Katie Buday, and Jennifer Buday; 5 great-great-grandchild-ren, Ben, Brian, Joey, Gabby, and Easton; 1 brother, John Goodman of Spring Lake; and 1 sister, Eleanor Hornik of Muskegon Heights. Mr. Goodman was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Bertha Cherney and Irene Arnold. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Mark Bauer presiding. Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at Lee Funeral Home, 2812 Fifth St. with the Rosary being prayed at 3:30 PM and a Scripture Service at 6:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Poppin Hospice House or Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund.
