Glen Jerome Bowers

Glen "Coffee" Jerome Bowers, age 90, of Fruitport Township, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026 at the Poppen House hospice residence.

Born September 27, 1935, to Glen and Evelyn (Guthrie) Bowers in Homestead Township, MI, Glen was a lifelong resident of the Muskegon area. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1953 and proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force, spending time in Greenland and Cheyenne, Wyoming. On January 8, 1966, he married the former Mary McClure after a charming meeting over a crossword puzzle at the local drugstore in Fruitport. They shared over 60 wonderful years together.

Glen was a skilled and dedicated sheet metal worker, retiring after a long career with companies including Boss Sheet Metal, Herman Miller, and Automatic Spring. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of the outdoors. An avid and patient fisherman and deer hunter, he loved spending time on Muskegon Lake and at the family land. He was also a voracious reader of non-fiction. Glen was known to many by his beloved nickname, "Coffee," a moniker earned from his days at the drugstore coffee counter.

He was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church. Glen will be remembered for his quiet strength, his steady presence, and the deep love he had for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his children, Eric (Leandra) Bowers of Ferrysburg and Sallie (Daryl) LaBello of Florida; and his cherished granddaughter, Erica (Eric Jackovich) Bowers. He was an only child and was preceded in death by his parents.

In accordance with Glen's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no public services will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Clock Funeral Home.
