Gisela Sofie Stellard

Gisela "Gise" Stellard, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday,

September 27, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 29, 1932, in Esslingen, West Germany, to parents August and Pauline (Muller) Strobel. On February 09, 1953, she married the love of her life, American soldier, Donald (Don) Stellard, in Esslingen, sharing 60 wonderful years together until his death in 2013.

Gisela enjoyed going for her daily walks, traveling, spending winters in Florida, cooking/sewing/crocheting, playing Skippo with friends and family; more than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her many friends, and especially treasured time spent with her family.

She will be remembered, and celebrated, for her strength, courage and compassion; and be forever lovingly remembered by her children: Barbara Stellard, of North Muskegon, MI; Tom (Ann) Stellard of Grand Rapids, MI; Diane (Joe) Fleck of Beaverton, OR; grandchildren Stephanie Stellard of Allendale, MI; Steven (Ashley) Stellard of Rockford, Ml; great grandchildren (to whom she was "Oma") Matthew VanHouten; Sam and Owen Stellard. Sister Annelore (Lori) Myers; sister-in-law Helen Sincere; many nieces & nephews; special friend, Ellen Bacheller, and special "buddy", grand dog, Sydney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, and brother Manfred (Fred) Strobel; sisters-in-law Betty Peterson, Margie Stellard & Doreen Murphy; brothers-in-law Joe Stellard, Dave Peterson, and Dave Myers; and by special friend, Joann Johnson.

The family would like to thank the kind and loving staff of Harbor Hospice for their compassionate and kind care during our mother's final few weeks.

A private Family Celebration of Gisela's life will be held at a later date.
