Gertrude C. Purdy

PURDY, MRS. GERTRUDE C. Grand Haven On June 26, 2004, Gertrude C. Purdy went to be with her Lord and Saviour. Born on April 14, 1920 to Koscoe and Mrytle Scholtens Ogden in Alma, Michigan; she moved to Grand Haven from Ionia in 1927 and had lived here for 77 years. Gertrude married John J. Purdy on March 25, 1938 in Grand Haven and they had 59 wonderful years of marriage before his death in September of 1997. She was a member of Robinson Grace Church for 50 years and had presently been attending Trinity Reformed for the last 11/2 years. She retired from the Grand Haven School System after 19 years of service, loved her church, baking, homemaking, and her family. SURVIVORS her children, Gloria Harrell Satterfield of Spring Lake, John Purdy of Grand Haven, Garry Sandy Purdy of Grand Haven and Charyle Charles Sandoval of Holland; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Hattie Stumpf of Holland and Pauline Groenewoud of Fennville; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Harold and Don Elva Ogden; sisters, Dorothy Roy Fuller, Nellie Rex Huntoon, Helen and Mickey Ogden. SERVICES 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at the Clock Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Davis and Rev. John Koedyker officiating. Interment at Lake Forest Cemetery, Grand Haven. VISITATION 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Clock Funeral Home, Grand Haven. Memorial: Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
