Gertrude Dewitt

Mrs. Gertrude A. DeWitt, age 98, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009. She was born in Grand Haven, MI on April 30, 1911 to Minke & Allie (Roossien) Kieft and married Walter H. DeWitt on November 30, 1933. Mrs. DeWitt had graduated from Beautician School and operated her own beauty shop before her children were born. Then she chose to stay home with her family. She was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling & sewing, taking the time to sew 14000 aprons in gospel colors for International Aid. SURVIVORS Sons, Charles (Lou Ellen) DeWitt of Birmingham, AL, Alan DeWitt of Ferrysburg, Glen (Gail) DeWitt of Fruitport, Jerry (Ann) DeWitt of Ferrysburg; grandchildren, David & Jon DeWitt, Karen Urbanik, Sarah Marrow, Vicki Blake, Janet Bronson, Julie Emmons, Jill Mueller, Greg DeWitt, Michelle DeWitt; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 1 niece & 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter; sisters, Annafred Palmer & Kathryn Hesse; daughters-in-law, Joyce M. DeWitt, Marlene DeWitt; 3 brothers who died in childhood. SERVICE Thursday, December 31, 2009, 11:00 AM at Lakeshore Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Muri officiating. Interment at Lake Forest Cemetery.
