Today, we honor the life and legacy of Gerald Len Taskey, a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, who passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the age of 71. A devoted family member, loyal friend, and steadfast guardian of his country, Jerry lived a life marked by courage, humility, and unwavering service.
Jerry was born in Gaylord, Michigan, on May 4, 1954, and was raised in Muskegon County. He grew up with a deep sense of duty and an unshakable commitment to doing what was right. That spirit led him to enlist in the Marine Corps, where he served with honor and distinction. Throughout his years of service, he embodied the Marine Corps' values of honor, courage, and commitment-traits that continued to define him long after his military career ended.
Outside the uniform, Jerry was known for his generosity, quick wit, and the deep love he had for his family. He found joy in his beloved dogs Lexi and Lilly, full-time RVing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, golfing, racing his RC Car, hunting, fishing, and cherishing every moment spent with those he held dear. His presence was a source of comfort and stability, a steady anchor in the lives of many.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Suzanne Taskey, his children Melanie Taskey, bAndrea Taskey (Jordan Gregory), Lori Stone (Mark), David Moskwa (Allison), Grand Children Degan Rigby, Madison Sawyer (Seth), Mark Stone Jr. (Rebeka Trejo), Ashley Girardot (Phil), and Evan Moskwa, and great grandchildren Arthur Len Stone and Phoebe Girardot. His siblings, Karen Mulder (Ralph), Debbie Lindsley (Paul), and Diane Boswell (Boz). He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and all others he considered family, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Sue Ann Taskey, brother Ronald Taskey, and granddaughter Jordan Marie Yarroch (Taskey).
Though he has left this world, the values he lived by and the love he shared will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A service honoring Jerry's life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from11:00am-2:00pm. A military honor presentation will be held at 11:30am.
